White Chicks On Rap - N.W.A. - Straight Outta Compton (20th Anniversary Edition)

Label: Priority
Rating: 4 Guns

Buy On:
N.W.A.
It was twenty years ago that the city of Compton was put on the map, it was twenty years ago that we were introduced to some of the greatest rappers of all time and it was twenty years ago that a new style of rap was born…gangsta rap.

From Dre’s production and Ice Cube’s lyrics and delivery, this album is a fuck you to the system. “Fuck Tha Police” prompted a letter from the FBI accusing NWA of promoting crime and setting a bad example. “Express Yourself” is the only song on the album that does not have cursing, but Dre’s message is still strong; “Expressin' ain't their subject/Because they like to follow”. “Straight Outta Compton” is a pure assult by some of the craziests motherfuckers of rap and as Eazy-Z rapped, “I don’t give a fuck”.

The 20th anniversary edition includes songs by Snoop, C-Murder, Mack 10 and Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony paying their respect to the original gangsta’s of rap. If you think about with NWA, you wouldn’t have Snoop, Jay-Z or West Coast rap.

Before NWA, rap was something played at house parties but now it has become the voice of the streets and as NWA said “you are about to witness the strength of street knowledge”…so pay attention.

White Chicks On Rap - Snoop Dogg - Ego Trippin'

Label: Doggystyle/Geffen
Rating: 3 Guns

Buy On:
Snoop Dogg

"You can't take the hood out of the homeboy" Snoop raps on “Can’t Say Goodbye”. I doubt the Snoop would ever say goodbye. From film, TV and music Snoop Dogg has made a lasting impression in each field.

Snoop’s ninth studio album still proves he is the Doggfather of rap. Snoop even pays respect to a “real American gangster” Johnny Cash by dedicating “My Medicine” to his honor. Knowing Snoop and his lifestyle, you can guess what his medicine is or just listen to the line “I'm high, all day, everyday.”

Snoop Dogg – “Pres Play”

“Sexual Eruption” deals with, well you know…and from the sound it was good. “I'm gonna take my time/She gon' get hers before I/I'm gonna take it slow/I'm not gon' rush the stroke.”

Now we all know the Snoop is a great rapper, but did you know he sings. Snoops shows a new skill on the track “Cool” which is a cover of The Time song. If The Time does reunite, Snoop needs to be there, because he fits right in with Morris Day, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Just to let you know, in case you don’t…The Time were and are the shit…they worked with Prince, was in Purple Rain and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis became successful producers for Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Usher, etc. With the history listen over…back to Snoop.

As Snoop said “Get your rap on” and “Press Play”.
